College Football Rankings 2023: Projected playoff Top 25 for Week 10
Missouri has been one of the biggest surprises this season, sitting at 7-1 after a Week 9 bye. The Tigers’ only loss was to LSU and it was a late collapse that ruined the potential massive win. Since that loss, Missouri won at No. 24 Kentucky by 17 and then dominated South Carolina by three touchdowns. This team is legit.
LSU is going to have a massive opportunity to make a move in the playoff rankings next week as it faces Alabama, but the committee will be a little reserved with the Tigers’ ranking this week as they were on a bye. Plus, it’s hard to show too much love to a two-loss team before November rolls around. Jayden Daniels may will his team into the top 10 next week, though.
Notre Dame has been impressive lately and after dominating Pitt on Saturday just two weeks after handing it to USC, the Irish should be on the move in the rankings. The AP Top 25 had the Irish at No. 14, but I think the playoff committee will have them flirting with the top 10. This is the best two-loss team in America.
Ole Miss got a nice confidence-boosting game in Week 9 with Vanderbilt coming to town and the Rebels had no problem with the Commodores. This won’t tell the committee much of anything, however, and I think Lane Kiffin and the Rebels will be in that 10-115 range.
We’re going to see Oklahoma take quite the drop in the first playoff rankings after losing at Kansas this week. The Sooners have been flirting with danger for a couple of weeks and it finally came back to bite them in Week 9 with a shootout loss against the Jayhawks. Right now, this is not a top 10 team.
