The below image comes via Reddit and Minnesota Golden Gophers offensive tackle recruit Alex Mayes:
This is a collection of Texas Tech alternate helmets, which may or may not be incorporated into the Red Raiders’ ensemble in 2013. Texas Tech is an Under Armour-outfitted program, and the company has been aggressive in its efforts to match Nike on the college football apparel market.
Included, as you’ll notice, are prototypes that feature the Red Raider mascot, as well as a version with individual player numbers. The latter is a throwback to the early 1960s, which was also the last time Tech helmets did not feature some variation of the Double-T logo.
Would new head coach Kliff Kingsbury, a Texas Tech alum, be so bold as to sign off on helmets that defy 50 years of tradition?
