The Johnny Manziel Country Music Video Is About What You Would Expect

The Johnny Manziel celebrity tour continued on Friday with the debut of Granger Smith’s country music video, “Silverado Bench Seat.”
I won’t bother reviewing the song, as country is not really in my wheelhouse. And the video itself is unremarkable: a few couples are shown spending quality time together in Texas. Were two of the participants not Manziel and his former Texas A&M Aggies teammate Ryan Swope, this one could get lost in the shuffle on CMT.
A few lingering shots of the Chevrolet logo at the song’s conclusion also give the distinct feel of a commercial. SEC fans whose teams face A&M this season, feel free to pass along that note to your local compliance officer (but don’t really, please).
Manziel is featured playfully tossing a football with his girlfriend, signing autographs and lounging in the front seat of a pick-up. Of course, an earlier Johnny Manziel video this off-season showed the sophomore-to-be drives a Mercedes Benz, though that’s beside the point.
The clips of Manziel and girlfriend Sarah Savage look like they could be scenes of Matt Saracen and Julie Taylor outside of the Dillon Panthers’ stadium.
Of course, Matt Saracen never hoisted the Heisman Trophy, and the Dillon Panthers never beat Nick Saban and Alabama.
