Is A Pink Mississippi State Football Uniform Coming In 2013?

Found via Tumblr on Friday night (h/t saturdaystars), a photo of a pink Mississippi State football uniform. Behold:

The veracity of this image is unknown at this time, though it certainly looks legit. Cancer research and funding through sports continues to grow, including pink uniforms for breast cancer awareness. Numerous women’s college basketball teams have taken to wearing all-pink duds for the Kay Yow/WBCA Fund. An SEC football taking up the cause would take the concept to a whole new level.

MSU has also gone along with unorthodox uniform concepts recently, sporting an all-white uniform in honor of its so-called “Snow Bowl” defeat of Texas A&M in 2000.

Moreover, Mississippi State is an adidas-outfitted school. adidas has shown no hesitation to dabble in outlandish college athletic garb in recent years. Most recently, the Brand With Three Stripes paid homage to classic Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros uniforms with the NC State Wolfpack and Louisville Cardinals NCAA baseball tournament uniforms.

During March Madness, adidas sent social media into a tizzy with Zubaz-inspired shorts for Louisville, Michigan and even tradition-obsessed UCLA. Then-Bruin head coach Ben Howland drew a line in the sand.

The Zubaz-style animal print on those basketball shorts appear on the above Mississippi State mock-up.

If the photo’s not legit, it wouldn’t be the first Mississippi State wardrobe malfunction today.

Hopefully, the pink Mississippi State football uniform is no hoax, or unused prototype. Support of breast cancer research is a noble cause, and it makes a definitive statement: tough guys can wear pink.
