Thoughts On: Week 10 Top Four

Week ten profiles some serious games as Alabama plays LSU, Oregon plays Stanford and Oklahoma plays Baylor.  That is literally coast to coast action.  These four teams need to win this week to maintain their rankings going into the last quarter of the season.

1)      Alabama Crimson Tide (8-0)

Alabama is undefeated going into its most difficult game of the season against LSU.  Alabama has outscored its first eight opponents by a combined score of 330-78.  The Tide offense is clicking.  Its defense has been fortified by the return of corner back Ha Ha Clinton Dix.  Look for Dix to ball-hawk the potent LSU receivers.  This could be a blow-out in favor of the Tide since the game will be played at night in Tuscaloosa at Bryant-Denney Stadium.

2)      Florida State Seminoles (8-0)

Florida State has dominated everyone this season with the exception of upstart Boston College. Look for more of the same this weekend. The ‘Noles have an ACC tilt against Wake Forest on the road at BB&T Field.  If Florida State is awake and playing decent ball it will dismantle the Demon Deacons.

3)      Oregon Ducks (8-0)

The Ducks have outscored its opponents 445-135 this season.  With Stanford on the docket this week the Ducks have the opportunity to prove that they belong in the national title game. It will be no “walk in the park” as the game is being played on the road in Palo Alto.  The Cardinal have as much to play for as the Ducks.

4)      Stanford Cardinal (7-1)

The Cardinal lost a tough game against Utah on October 12.  They have stabilized the season with subsequent wins over UCLA and Oregon State who were both ranked.  The Cardinal are ranked number five in the national polls and play Oregon at home this weekend.  If the Cardinal come out victorious in this game then they have a GREAT chance of sneaking into the National Championship game . . . if they remain undefeated down the stretch.
