KALAMAZOO – Western Michigan intends to hire former Michigan running back Mike Hart as its running back coach, pending a background check.
Mat Kanan, WMU sports information director, confirmed the move Monday on Twitter.
Hart has spent the last two seasons with the Eastern Michigan football team as both an offensive quality control assistant and a running backs coach.
When EMU hired Chris Creighton in December to replace former coach Ron English, Hart was the only coach retained from the previous EMU staff.
Hart is the all-time leading rusher in Michigan football history, recording 5,040 yards while playing in Ann Arbor.
