Duke Sign ESPN 300 Recruit Trevon Lee

It had been some time since Duke troubled any football rankings, but head coach David Cutcliffe made a big splash on National Signing Day by luring 4-star recruit Trevon Lee to Durham.

Coming off a season in which they recorded their highest ever win total, not to mention their highest end-of-season national ranking since 1961, the Blue Devils signed up Lee, their first ESPN 300 recruit since the network began their rankings.

At 5’11 and 168 pounds, Lee may lack the ideal size of some of his peers, but he is an intelligent, natural receiver who does some of his best work after a catch, a trait that will fit in nicely in the Duke offense.

Duke has also added 3 other 4-star recruits in LB Zavier Carmichael, QB Nicodem Pierre and RB Shaun Wilson, suggesting the perception of Duke as a basketball school may be about to change. Cutcliffe has done an impressive job in building the program to be competitive in the ACC, despite a small enrollment and high academic restrictions.

The Blue Devils are on course to have their best signing class in years, so expect them to stay competitive for the foreseeable future.
