Well that didn’t take long.

Not too long after arriving in Norman for an official visit with the Oklahoma Sooners, Bob Stoops announced this afternoon Dorial Green-Beckham – the former Missouri Tigers wide receiver and number one recruit in the nation – will be attending the University of Oklahoma. Here’s Stoops’ statement via SoonersSports.com.

"“We are pleased to welcome Dorial to the University of Oklahoma, where he is excited to continue his education and resume his playing career. Dorial understands the privilege and responsibilities of representing the Oklahoma Football program. He is a talented young man who is eager to get to work with the rest of our team in the classroom and on the field.”"

Green-Beckham also released a statement about his decision.

"“I appreciate this opportunity from Coach Stoops and the University of Oklahoma. There are people here who will help me build a strong foundation. I’ve disappointed myself and others in the past. I know that I have a lot of work to do and I’m ready to get started. OU is a great program and I feel privileged to be part of it. The university has made the expectations clear and I want to live up to them and be a positive part of the campus and team. I also want to thank Coach Gary Pinkel and the University of Missouri.”"

NCAA rules require Green-Beckham to sit out the 2014 season but he will be eligible to play in 2015. This is a massive get for the Sooners program assuming DGB can get his act together off the field. Green-Beckham is almost assuredly a first round pick when he decides to declare for the NFL draft and would provide a huge weapon for the Sooners offense.

In two seasons Green-Beckham (6-6, 225) caught  87 passes for 1,278 yards (14.7 avg.) with 17 touchdowns. His 12 touchdown catches as a sophomore tied him for the lead in the SEC. He also hauled in two touchdown passes in the SEC Championship game against Auburn.
