Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall was banned from SEC media days today because of a pot citation from last week, and now he may face a ban on the field.

Marshall did not attend SEC Media Days because of a Friday arrest for having less than an ounce of marijuana. The consequences of his actions are unknown at this point. One of them, at least, is Marshall held back from attending media days.

“It is a privilege and reward to represent Auburn here at SEC Media Days,” Gus Malzahn said, “and Friday [Marshall] lost that privilege.”

Malzahn said later at his SEC Media Days press conference that Marshall will “suffer the consequences” for his arrest. It should be noted Malzahn did not elaborate of what the meaning the word “consequences” would be for Marshall, but one would assume Marshall may see some sort time off of the field.

Auburn opens the season at home against SEC foe Arkansas, so if Marshall were to be suspended one would think it would only be for a quarter or maybe a half. The last thing Auburn needs is to start their title defense run with an opening week loss to Arkansas at home.
