As reported by NewsOK.com, Oklahoma State running back and return specialist Tyreek Hill has been arrested Thursday night on domestic abuse charges stemming from an argument with his girlfriend.

"According to Stillwater police, Hill’s girlfriend was admitted to the Stillwater Medical Center Emergency room where she told police she and Hill got into an argument that escalated into a fight. The victim, whose name wasn’t released, told police Hill hit her in the face and stomach and choked her. She was treated and released from the hospital.Hill was contacted at his home around 11 p.m. and arrested “based on probable cause for Domestic Abuse by Strangulation.”More from College Football NewsMichigan State vs. Maryland: Location, time, prediction, and moreRanking college football’s top 10 quarterbacks after Week 3Things are going to get much darker for the Houston CougarsBiggest winners and losers from College Football Week 3#10 Alabama football: 3 takeaways from close road win against USF"

Hill had burst onto the scene earlier this year in the season opener against Florida State, showing his electrifying speed on punt and kick returns. This past Saturday, Hill showed that speed against Oklahoma in the Bedlam game, racing 92 yards in the final minute of regulation to send the game to overtime, where the Cowboys eventually won, 38-35. Also this past week saw Tyreek Hill win the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Award. With charges most undoubtably pending, Hill’s future as a Cowboy is in serious jeopardy.

With that in mind, injured Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett seems to have landed himself in much the same dire straits as the other OSU’s Hill. According to the Columbus Dispatch:

"Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett and his ex-girlfriend separately made calls to Columbus police on Tuesday night involving an apparent domestic situation at his University District apartment.Neither was charged. Barrett, 19, told a 911 dispatcher that his ex-girlfriend was refusing to leave his apartment, while the woman said he choked her and flung her across the room."

J.T. Barrett wasn’t charged and wasn’t arrested, (both Barrett and Alexandra Barrett-Clark refused to press charges) but Ohio State officials were ‘looking into the matter.’ When Barrett came onto the scene to replace Buckeye QB Braxton Miller at the beginning of the season, some were calling it a throwaway season. After a setback at home against Virginia Tech, Barrett led the Buckeyes to 10 straight victories, his season cut short by a leg injury in the Michigan game.

So what’s next for these two? At a glance, Tyreek Hill’s situation seems worse than Barrett’s, although the incidents seem entirely similar. Time will tell as both seemed primed for the future in their respective football programs…
