Four-star defensive tackle Tyler Clark committed to the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday night.

Georgia has loaded up on elite defensive linemen recruits in recent years and they added to their riches on Friday night with the verbal commitment from four-star defensive tackle Tyler Clark.

Clark (Americus, GA. Americus Sumter County South) is Georgia’s 11th commitment for Mark Richt’s 2016 class and the first defensive tackle. The 6-3, 290-pound Clark is the nation’s No. 238 overall recruit regardless of position, No. 20 defensive tackle and the No. 22 recruit in the state of Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

His commitment comes one month and one day after he named Georgia his leaders ahead of the Auburn Tigers on April 14. Clark received his offer from the Dawgs after attending their Junior Day on Feb. 21 and later took two unofficial visits to Athens in April, including the school’s G-Day to see the team’s spring game.

With tonight’s commitment from Clark, Georgia now has the nation’s No. 5 recruiting class and the No. 2 class in the SEC. Five-star quarterback Jacob Eason along with a pair of in-state and top-50 recruits in offensive tackles Ben Cleveland and E.J. Price serving as the headliners. Not to be undone are Clark and defensive end Chauncey Manac from Clinch County in Homerville, GA who are the two highest ranked defensive commitments so far.

Georgia has a shot to finish with the No. 1 class if Richt and his coaching staff can continue to build to this impressive haul between now and national signing day in February. Certainly, a trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game would do wonders for the uncommitted recruits on Georgia’s wish list.
