The Auburn Tigers received a commitment from Kyle Davis, the nation’s top receiver, filling a position of need for Gus Malzahn’s team.

Auburn landed a huge commitment Wednesday in 2016 five-star wide receiver Kyle Davis (Archer. Lawrenceville. GA.). Davis is the No. 20 player in his class, the top wide receiver, and the No. 2 player in the state of Georgia per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Collecting 38 offers in total, many teams were vying for Davis’ services. Three teams in particular stood out to Davis as Auburn, Georgia, and Tennessee were the three programs he was mulling over before ultimately picking the Tigers.

On the Auburn front, he took an unofficial visit to the campus back on May 31, a little less than two weeks after decommiting from South Carolina. He visited the program again on September 26, and again on November 14 before committing Wednesday. It is worth noting that in between that time, he took several visits to Georgia, but in the end, he decided that Auburn was home.

With this commitment, Auburn now has the No. 10 overall class in the country, and No. 5 overall class in what is a deep and talented SEC. This marks the second five-star commitment in the class as Davis will join strong-side defensive end Marlon Davidson (Greenville, AL. Greenville), per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Auburn is getting an instant playmaker in Davis. Once he has the ball in his hands he can make things happen after the catch, using his explosiveness and speed to get in the open field. He will provide Auburn with an offensive weapon that should present matchup problems for many teams.
