There will be at least two one-loss teams in the College Football Playoff, so which teams are deserving of snagging a spot?

One big issue with the College Football Playoff poll is the timing of the loss plays a huge role in the rankings, which I don’t think should be the case.

Now, there’s no other way to stir up some excitement and controversy without coming out with a ranking system every week and delivering it on a national broadcast, but it’s just such a shame that a loss in even the conference championship game could bump you out of the playoffs.

Suppose Clemson were to lose in the final week of the season to UNC in the ACC Championship Game. They held down the No. 1 spot every week in the polls, and for playing that one more game, and losing to a potential top-10 team, would end their playoff hopes.

So now, I’m scrapping the timing of every one loss team in team in the nation, and ranking them in what seems to be a pretty strategical order, met by some criteria used by the playoff committee. That criteria includes: margin of victory, quality of their one loss, quality of wins, and strength of schedule.

There are only 10 spots, for 11 one-loss teams, so that means one team is left hanging.
