Kyle Allen is transferring from Texas A&M, but where could the former five-star recruit finish his college career?

After an up and down career with the Texas A&M Aggies, former five-star quarterback Kyle Allen announced via Twitter he is transferring and will have three years to play two seasons.

Allen won the starting quarterback job toward the end of last year from Kenny Hill, who transferred to TCU after last year, so this is the second straight year the Aggies opening starter has left the same year. Allen began the year as the starter, but lost his job after back-to-back losses to Alabama and Ole Miss.

He threw for 2,210 yards, completing 160 of 283 passes for 17 touchdowns to seven interceptions. He regained the starting job to finish the year after true freshman Kyler Murray was unable to hold the job, so it comes as a bit of a surprise now that he’s transferring after being named the starter.

However, before the season started and throughout the season, transfer rumors persisted due to the presence of former Gatorade National Player of the Year, Murray.

Allen was the No. 1 pro-style passer and a No. 10 overall recruit out of Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, AZ and had offers to Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and UCLA, among others, but chose A&M over Arizona State.

There’s no word on where Allen could land, but 247Sports reports Allen can’t transfer to another SEC program, but it has to be somewhere that will allow him to start after sitting out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Both Arizona and Arizona State would seem like the most likely options considering he’s from the state, but according to Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman, the Oklahoma Sooners come to mind for Allen as a possible destination. Oklahoma rode the success of Texas Tech transfer quarterback Baker Mayfield to the College Football Playoff and OU receiver Mark Andrews was a high school teammate of Allen’s.

Texas A&M plays the Louisville Cardinals in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30.
