The Iowa Hawkeyes won their first Big Ten Conference game last week, but it wasn’t pretty. The Northwestern Wildcats look to add to the discomfort and get their first Big Ten victory of the season…

The Iowa Hawkeyes are 3-1 on the season with their lone loss coming to FCS powerhouse North Dakota State. They are far and away from their once ranked AP Poll status. A win over the Wildcats can help things.

The Hawkeyes’ defense only allows 13.5 points per game but it’s the offense that has been having some issues. In their victory last week, quarterback C.J. Beathard passed for just 162 yards and a touchdown against Rutgers.

The rushing attack managed 193 yards and a touchdown in the game as well but points came at a premium for the Hawkeyes. Their 30.5 points per game is 65th best in the FBS. The scoring offense is definitely something that will looked to be improved upon this week.

The Northwestern Wildcats are just 1-3 on the season despite having the 23rd best defense in the nation. Their offense scores 16.2 points per game which is ranked 125th out 128 FBS teams.

Quarterback Clayton Thorson has struggled this season with turnovers. He has thrown four interceptions despite throwing for 956 passing yards and five touchdowns. Growing pains for the sophomore quarterback, he threw nine all season last year.

The Wildcats could use some help from the running game. They are averaging 108 rushing yards per game and 3.1 yards per rush, second to last in the Big Ten.
