College Football: Week 7 announcer pairings
By Tim Kaiser
Find out which announcers, experts, and reporters will be providing the commentary as you watch the biggest and best games of Week 7.
This week has the potential to tell us the most about who will win the College Football Playoff so far. The consensus two best two teams in the country through six weeks, No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Ohio State, face off against fellow Top 10 teams. CBS and ESPN/ABC have sent their best announcer pairings to cover the games.
ESPN’s College GameDay is headed north of the Mason-Dixon Line for just the second time this year and the first time since Week 1. Both trips out of the Southeast have been to Wisconsin. The Buckeyes go to Madison for their first real test of the season against the eighth-ranked Badgers. After another post-show flight last week, Sam Ponder and Kirk Herbstreit get to take it easy this week as they will work the primetime game at Camp Randall alongside Chris Fowler.
GameDay, if not for Tennessee fatigue, could have easily ended up back in Knoxville for the matchup between the top-ranked Crimson Tide and the No. 9 Volunteers. CBS snatched up the game for the announcer dynamic duo of Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson. Tennessee will be a part of the SEC on CBS for the fourth Saturday in a row.
The only other game of Week 7 that features two teams in the Top 25 is No 12 Ole Miss at No. 22 Arkansas. The crew headed by ESPN’s No. 2 play-by-play announcer, Joe Tessitore, is on the call for the 7 p.m. kick.
