The Washington Huskies were able to take a late lead on Saturday against the Utah Utes thanks to a clutch punt return touchdown from Dante Pettis.

Everyone was expecting the Pac-12 showdown between the Washington Huskies and Utah Utes to be the game of the week in college football. Fortunately for us, the game definitely didn’t disappoint.

Both teams were going back and forth thanks to some big plays, with the game tied in the fourth quarter. However, the Huskies were able to take the lead in the final minutes thanks to a huge play from Dante Pettis.

After a mediocre punt from Utah, Pettis took the ball, made a couple of key cuts and returned the punt all the way for a 55-yard touchdown. The return helped the Huskies take a 31-24 lead with just under three and a half minutes remaining.

You can check out the huge play from Pettis in the video below.

It has been an incredible season for the Huskies, who came into Saturday’s game with a perfect 7-0 record that included two huge blowout wins over Pac-12 powerhouses in Stanford and Oregon. Granted, both of those programs have struggled this season, but they were big statement wins for the Huskies.

Now, Washington is hoping that it can escape Utah with its perfect record intact. If they can do that, then their College Football Playoff hopes will be very much alive. If they can win out and win the Pac-12 championship game, then they’ll have a real chance at a national title.
