DP & AJ Take on KU, The Latest Reason to Love Social Media

Where would we, fellow college football lovers, be without social media? Only at the football blogosphere table of the Internet cafeteria are terms like GERG and RonP4 meaningful. And I must admit, it grows increasingly more difficult with each passing day to not let such terminology creep into my daily non-social vocabulary.

There are non-embarrassing privileges to football and social media’s marriage, too, and today marked the release of a new one. Kansas wideout Daymond Patterson (@DP4Heisman, which I can only hope is a subtle shutout to the meme his rival’s former head coach inspired) tweeted out this video of he and Jayhawk teammate AJ Steward working out with the KU women’s soccer team. The clip’s entitled “DP & AJ TAKE ON KU.” Hopefully this is a running series, because this installment is outstanding.

ESPN.com Big 12 reporter David Ubben (@davidubben) suggested a 13-episode show on ESPN. I want to go on record as firmly behind this. This is an entertaining spotlight on the Jayhawks at a time when the program needs some positivity. KU has been more notable for its ugly break-up with Mark Mangino, and last season’s clash with another Jayhawk program — a clash not in the jovial spirit of DP & AJ TAKE ON KU.

Here’s to more videos coming out throughout the summer, and who knows? Maybe Patterson is on his way to becoming the Jared Dudley of college football.
