Norman Police arrested Oklahoma QB1-hopeful Kendal Thompson for misdemeanor public intoxication Friday morning.
Obviously it’s too early to say if this will, in any way, impact the quarterback battle, but it certainly can’t help the rising sophomore. Thompson is currently competing with Blake Bell and Trevor Knight for the starting position.
Thompson was apparently passed out on a hill and later required police to “struggle” to arrest him.
Without having been there, it’s hard to tell how much of this is actual cause for concern and how much is boys-will-be-boys. Thompson would hardly be the first young person to overindulge in adult beverages while on a college campus.
At the same time, one can’t think it’s a good sign for someone vying to be QB1 to show such poor judgment considering how high-profile every OU football player is on campus.
An Oklahoma spokesman told Sooner Nation that the school “is handling the matter internally.”
