Landon Foster is a very good punter who will be back for his junior year in Lexington. Last year he averaged more than 41 yards per punt, and this year the College Football Performance Awards put him on the Punter Trophy Watch List for this year. Kentucky should be able to win the field position battle with Foster, which is a big bonus that could be even more exciting with what should be a high-powered offense.

At kicker, however, Joe Mansour is gone. Mansour was 10 for 10 on kicks less than 40 yards this past year, which is always the most important stat for kickers because it shows he did what he was supposed to do. He was also 2 of 3 on kicks from 40 to 49 yards. Max Strong will compete for the starting placekicker position, but it will probably go to Austin MacGinnis, who was the third best kicker in the country in the 2013 Rivals class. He has a lot of potential, but kickers always struggle out of the gate in college football, and for a team trying to take that next step, that’s not a good thing to have.
