Will Lack of a Passing Game Hold Back LSU Tigers?
Prediction
While it is true that the Tigers lose a valuable quarterback for the first time in more than a decade, like every year, it shouldn’t matter.

The offense will be able to adjust with incredible incoming talent and plenty of talent already on the squad to offset the losses of Mettenberger, Hill, Beckham, and Landry. The running game should be even better with Jennings at the helm, so a change of pace in the offense will keep things in pretty good shape.
On top of that, the defensive unit should be much better this year. The front seven shouldn’t have a drop-off, and the secondary is so loaded that it should carry the whole team. There are plenty of potential superstars on this roster, and after struggling throughout much of last year, the defense should be the strength overall. LSU should go back to old-school winning football this year, with a strong running game, tough defense, and a kicking game that can make the difference in close games.

The Tigers were 6 points away from only one loss on the season last year, to Alabama, and entering a three-way tie for the SEC West Championship. The schedule is a typical SEC schedule with road games at Auburn and Texas A&M and a home game with Alabama, but the toughest test for LSU could be a season-opener against Wisconsin. It’s not that the Badgers are the best team on the schedule, but that’s not who you want to open up playing if you’re breaking in a new quarterback. Should the Tigers survive that showdown, then their schedule comes down to those three SEC games. Everything else should be certain.
