  • The roster returns a lot of experienced players who are still underclassmen this year, so that shows how great the future can be. And the overall talent is better than last year.

But it’ll be hard to take a step up from last year, especially in the SEC West. Boise State and Vanderbilt are no easy opening games, and playing Texas A&M and LSU on the road make those games almost sure losses. Alabama is an all but sure loss no matter where the two teams play.

But there is still room for a better season. The Rebels fans should expect a guaranteed 6 wins on the year, and the season comes down to home games against Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Auburn. If they can win two of those games and the bowl game, it will show improvement.

If not, well, you can’t be too mad at the coaching staff for not taking another step. The Rebels are in the hardest division to win consistently in.

Over the next three years, though, Ole Miss should eventually be in great shape to compete for the SEC West if the program keeps pace.
