Petty, Knight Among 2014 ‘Dark Horse’ Heisman Hopefuls

So let’s just say we took out the ‘odds on’ favorites this year. Well its kind of already happened with Braxton Miller out for the season. So that leaves 2 realistic hopefuls going into the season right? Jameis Winston is at 4/1 via Bovada, and Marcus Mariota at 5/1.

We all know that previous winners have a hard time repeating. Not since Archie Griffin in 1974-75 has that happened, so throw Winston out. So is the Heisman basically Mariota’s to lose? Chances are we’ll know something early when Michigan St. rolls into town on Sept. 6th. Mariota has had fits whenever he plays Stanford, losing 2 years in a row. And how does Stanford play? Just like Michigan St. So just who are the next round of hopefuls to win? At 10-1 and above, here are your ‘Dark Horses’ in the Power Conferences to immortalize themselves as the possible Heisman Trophy winner.
