ACC Preseason Rankings: Can Florida State Seminoles Lose?
ACC Atlantic
4. Louisville Cardinals
This is a very overhyped team this year. So what if Bobby Petrino’s there? The Cardinals don’t have enough talent for them to be nearly as good as everybody is predicting.

Louisville may be returning a lot of talent outside of the quarterback position, but Teddy Bridgewater is such a big loss at quarterback that you can’t expect Petrino to immediately come in and turn this into a top 25 team. Remember, as great as he is, he struggled to a 5-7 record with a rebuilding Arkansas team his first year there.
Fortunately, that won’t be the case this year, but there still isn’t enough to finish in the top three in the conference. I don’t care that Louisville beat Miami in last year’s bowl game; that’s a loss this year. So are Florida State and Clemson, and I’m sticking with Syracuse to beat them at the Carrier Dome this year. That already drops them to 4-4. And Boston College on the road is no guarantee.
Notre Dame is the only tough non-conference game, so the Cardinals luckily are good enough to be a 7-win team and the future is bright. But there’s no division championship this year, in the ACC.
