Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 2

11. Michigan Wolverines 1-0 (0-0) Lost to Notre Dame 31-0 Last Week

And there goes any chance of the Wolverines proving they’re back. A blowout loss to the Irish was about the worst thing that could have happened to this program this year as it tries to prove it is turning the corner in Brady Hoke’s fourth season. Now, Hoke appears as if he could get fired tomorrow.

Perhaps dropping Michigan all the way down to No. 11 in the power rankings is a little harsh, but it doesn’t compare to the harsh treatment the Irish inflicted on that program. There’s nobody else that deserves to be below this team after that.

The Wolverines looked so good in their win against Appalachian State last week, but this time the offense was absolutely awful, gaining only 289 yards of total offense. What’s crazy is this team held Notre Dame to 280 yards of offense, but Michigan had 4 turnovers.

So in addition to not moving the ball, the Wolverines offense decided to spot the Fighting Irish some points as well. That spells serious trouble for the rest of the season.
