Vegas Pac 12 Predictions for Week 3 of the College Football Season
Saturday Blitz Vegas Pac 12 Predictions Week 3
No. 9 USC Trojans at Boston College Eagles
Line: USC by 17
How about those Trojans? The accepted theory around the league was that USC was the type of team Stanford would force to play a close, defensive game. Well, they did that, and the Trojans were the ones who came away with a victory in the process. Steve Sarkisian has this team reminding everybody it’s still USC and could easily compete for the Pac 12 championship. The Trojans this week are on the road against a well-coached but young team. To win they’ll want to provide the weak Boston College rush defense with a big dose of Javorius Allen, who had 154 yards rushing against a great Stanford rush defense. They also want to use their defense to force Tyler Murphy to play like his mistake-prone self.
Boston College, meanwhile, is going to turn to its running game to try to win against the tough USC defense. Murphy’s mobility will be a factor, but Steve Addazio needs to limit the amount of times he throws the ball. A good, strong rushing game that keeps USC’s offense off the field and limits turnovers will be the key for the Eagles to pull off this upset at home. The Eagles are young and rebuilding significantly, but they could potentially catch USC in a hangover as well and force a few turnovers. If that happens, then this game gets very intriguing.
Prediction
USC is not going to fall off after such a huge win last week. Sarkisian will keep the Trojans focused, and they’ll run the ball down Boston College’s throat with a nice game from Cody Kessler himself. It won’t really ever be close as the Trojans are riding way too much momentum for that. This will be over early.
