Saturday Blitz Conference Power Rankings: SEC Tougher than Ever, Big Ten Worse than Expected

Saturday Blitz Conference Power Rankings Week 3

2. Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC)

After Virginia Tech was upset by East Carolina Saturday afternoon, the ACC looked as if it would fall behind the Pac 12 and the Big 12 in the rankings with those three conferences so close together in terms of depth and talent. But Boston College saved the day.

The Eagles’ upset of USC looks great considering USC’s win over Stanford, and BC looks like it will be one of the lower-tier ACC teams. What an impressive performance that saved this spot for the conference! Virginia’s upset of Louisville shows a conference getting deeper and better as well, and don’t forget that Duke and North Carolina are looking to be Top 25 schools while Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and N.C. State are all undefeated.

Wake Forest is really the only bad egg in the conference, and it is an awful egg. But the Demon Deacons can’t be blamed too much given they are starting over with a brand new system, and don’t forget that the SEC has Vanderbilt, and the Pac 12 has Colorado. So the ACC is not alone with one bad apple, and there are lots of good teams in the conference that give it a great chance to remain in the No. 2 spot for a while.

Unfortunately, it’ll be near impossible to take that No. 1 spot.
