Saturday Blitz Conference Power Rankings Week 3

7. Mountain West Conference (MWC)

The Mountain West continues to look surprisingly better than the AAC and scored many more good wins this past weekend, including putting up a victory and a few close games against Power Five conference teams.

Utah State had a nice win against Wake Forest, and Nevada played Arizona close. Fresno State did get blown out by Nebraska, and Wyoming got blown out by Oregon, but those two games can’t be held against the conference when comparing it to other Non-Power Five conferences. They were both expected to be blown out, even if Nebraska had a surprising struggle last week against McNeese State.

In non-Power Five match-ups, Boise State and Air Force had wins against Connecticut and Georgia State respectively, and Colorado State and Hawaii won games against FCS opponents. Still, this isn’t enough to put the Mountain West over the hump as the top non-Power Five team. You can’t ignore that UNLV had a loss to Northern Illinois, and the one Power Five win the conference had was against a Wake Forest team that is literally starting from the bottom.

That’s not impressive enough to propel the MWC any higher than it’s at right now.
