Saturday Blitz Vegas ACC Predictions Week 4

Army Black Knights at Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Line: Army by 2.5

Wake Forest fans had to be warned that Dave Clawson’s offense would take a year or two to not look pathetic, and that’s showing right now. The Demon Deacons are only averaging 19 points per game, but luckily this week they go up against one of the worst defenses in college football. To win this game and make it to 2-2 Wake Forest needs to be able to have a decent passing game, which is the less terrible part of the offense so far this year. The defense has been decent, and it’ll need to be good again against an Army team that lives and dies by the running game in its effort to become an identical program to rival Navy.

Army, meanwhile, will want to stick to playing Army football and break off a few long runs against a decent Wake Forest defense to get the win. However, the Black Knights defense has no excuse for playing poorly this weekend, as the Demon Deacons have such an atrocious offense. If they can force that Clawson offense to look as bad as it has been, then this should be a pretty easy victory for the Black Knights. But if they let Wake Forest have a few good drives, then this game could go a different way. An Army victory hinges solely on how well the defense plays.

Prediction

This is a very tough call to make because Wake Forest is the perfect match-up for Army even though Army is better this year. However, the Demon Deacons will find a way to pull out the victory. The Black Knights are so bad defensively, especially with their pass defense, that Wake will be able to have a few nice plays and score enough to win as their defense holds the Army rushing attack in check.
