Mississippi State Shoots Up Week 4 SEC Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 4
We learned a lot more about SEC football this past weekend. A week before conference play really begins, the Southeastern Conference is still the best conference in college football.
But it’s completely one-sided.
The SEC West is so much better than the SEC East that it’s kind of ridiculous. All seven teams in the West deserve to be in the Top 25, and five can say they belong in the Top 10.

That’s not to say the SEC East isn’t great. On the contrary, if both divisions were like the East, the SEC would still be the toughest conference in college football. Georgia and South Carolina are both great teams. Missouri’s loss to Indiana hurt the reputation of that division, though, and Tennessee’s loss to Oklahoma wasn’t a great look (even though that’s the fourth of fifth best team in the SEC East going against one of the top two Big 12 teams). But The Dawgs and Gamecocks alone make it a tougher division than any other division you’ll see in college football.
This remains the deepest and most dominant conference in college football, and right now it might be more dominant than ever. That makes it very hard to set apart the teams in the conference, especially in the West, but we’re going to try. So now, here are our SEC Power Rankings following Week 4 of the college football season.
