Mississippi State Shoots Up Week 4 SEC Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 4
9. Arkansas Razorbacks, 3-1 (0-1), Defeated Northern Illinois Huskies 52-14 Last Saturday
Bret Bielema’s Arkansas Razorbacks have all of a sudden turned into the team he wanted them to be when he took over last year. Just one year appears to have changed things. After losing to Auburn to start the year, the Razorbacks are now 3-1. And they’re not just 3-1. They have blown out opponents, including a good Big 12 squad in Texas Tech on the road two Saturdays ago. But because of the depth of the SEC West, they have to be all the way down at No. 9.
It’s unfortunate and unfair, really, how deep that division is. But Arkansas has a chance to make noise this weekend with a huge game against Texas A&M. The Razorbacks’ style of play could be kryptonite for the Aggies as well, as they rely almost solely on the run game. Arkansas is 3rd in points per game because they have the No. 8 rushing attack while only having the 114th passing attack. Bielema’s team has a great chance to move up these rankings with its style of play in the future, and isn’t winning games by tough defense and running the football the SEC way? It looks that way for Arkansas.
