Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 4

12. Michigan Wolverines, 2-2 (0-0),  Lost to Utah Utes 26-10 Last Saturday

While the Wildcats may be a disappointment, Brady Hoke’s fourth Michigan Wolverines team takes the crown as the biggest disappointment so far this year. Wasn’t this supposed to be the year when Michigan was going to prove to everybody that they’re back? Weren’t those highly touted recruited classes finally going to show on the field?

Now, the hype sounds like a hilarious joke. Through their first four games, the worst-case scenario for the Wolverines should have been 3-1 with a close loss to Notre Dame. A blowout loss to the Fighting Irish made things worse, but there was still time to regroup. Now, a blowout loss at home against Utah shows that this team might be a joke.

Even in a week when the Big Ten was finally starting to look decent, the Wolverines weren’t going to fail in embarrassing the conference. That seems to be a special skill they have. Now, Hoke is all but fired, and conference play hasn’t even begun yet for the Wolverines. A home game against Minnesota this weekend now looks like a very possible loss, and with the way they’ve been playing, there is not one team above the Wolverines in these rankings that’s looked worse.
