1. Oregon Ducks, 4-0 (1-0), Defeated Washington State Cougars 38-31 Last Saturday

Style points don’t mean anything for the Oregon Ducks. That holds true when they win blowouts, so it has to hold true when they win close games. That’s why we refuse to read too much into the fact that the Washington State Cougars played them in a much tougher game than anybody would have expected.

Marcus Mariota is still a Heisman candidate, the Ducks are still undefeated, and they still have a major quality victory over Michigan State. While the rest of the Pacs 12 teams are trying to prove just how ready they are to make at the College Football playoff, we know that the Ducks are already there, and they belong firmly in the top spot of our Pac 12 power rankings.

Consider that in a close game Mariota may have increased his Heisman chances thanks to how efficient he was and the numbers he put up. Oregon simply runs so many plays and such an up-tempo offense that the margin of victory could go anywhere from a tie to four touchdowns in a matter of minutes. As they get set for a bye week before a Thursday night showdown against Arizona next week, this team can’t do anything to lose the top spot for right now.
