Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 5

5. Maryland Terrapins, 4-1 (1-0), Defeated Indiana Hoosiers 37-15 Last Saturday

Wait, were the Terps supposed to worry about getting destroyed going into the Big Ten? Because it looks like they missed that memo. Their first game was against a Big Ten team that was just coming off beating an SEC team, and the Terps had them on the road so they were going to get crushed right? Well, at least there was a blowout.

Maryland destroyed Indiana and is now at 4-1, and don’t forget that this team could easily be 5-0 right now. The offense is still loaded with skill players, and honestly it doesn’t look like it misses a beat when Caleb Rowe is in for C.J. Brown at quarterback. In fact, the passing game improves. Despite all of the injuries on defense, Edsall appears to have put enough depth on the team that it doesn’t have to feel sorry for itself. And Will Likely could be launching an All-American campaign at corner.

Unfortunately, Maryland likely wanted to be 5-0 heading into Ohio State before the season started. But it can settle for 4-1, and Penn State, Michigan, Iowa, and Rutgers are all winnable games. And this team is definitely capable of upsetting Ohio State, Michigan State or Wisconsin. So don’t sleep on the Terps this year.
