Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 5

10. North Carolina Tar Heels, 2-2 (0-1), Lost to Clemson Tigers 50-35 Last Saturday

Well this team was a joke. Two bad losses in a row to East Carolina and Clemson now have us wondering if the North Carolina Tar Heels are capable of going anywhere this year, and it’s hard to sell them even being this high in our ACC Power Rankings. Maybe it’s just because of the offense.

But after worrying about the defense the first two games, UNC fans now have a right to be in panic mode about it. The Tar Heels just gave up 70 points to East Carolina and 50 points to Clemson. True, the Pirates have a good offense, but there’s never an excuse for giving up 70 points. And Clemson still has issues on offense, but none of them showed against the Tar Heels. This is going to raise questions about whether or not this team is even worthy of a bowl game.

Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Miami are the next five games, so this team could easily fall to 2-7. And don’t forget that Duke and N.C. State are on down the road. Most of these teams have good offenses, and the ones that don’t may be able to get stops on defense. So yes, UNC, this is a perfect time to panic.
