Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 5

7. Virginia Tech Hokies, 3-2 (0-1), Defeated Western Michigan Broncos 35-17 Last Saturday

The Virginia Tech Hokies finally got back on track last Saturday with a blowout win against Western Michigan. Yes, it was only Western Michigan, and yes, it was only a 35-17 victory, but it was 32-10 going into the fourth quarter, and the Hokies were playing a complete game. That was needed for their morale.

However, Michael Brewer can’t seem to avoid multiple interception games, and he had another 2 interceptions in this one. It’s becoming a big problem, actually, and he’s going to have to be much more efficient going forward if Virginia Tech is going to get back to being a legitimate contender. The defense is fine, Beamer Ball is in full swing, and the running game is good enough. Brewer has to find a way to eliminate his bad plays and keep his good ones.

Fortunately, a trip to North Carolina and their no-defense having selves could do the trick. That would at least get Brewer’s confidence back up, but if he struggles to not turn the ball over in this one, Beamer’s team could then have a serious problem throughout the rest of the season.
