Saturday Blitz Week 6 Blitz Points Winner

5. Cole Luke, Defensive Back, Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Defeated Stanford Cardinal 17-14 Last Saturday)

4 Tackles, 2 Interceptions, 1 Sack, 1 Forced Fumble

The question in Notre Dame’s victory over Stanford from Saturday should be this: what did Cole Luke not do during the game? Seriously, he was all over the field and had a dominating performance.

As a cornerback, Luke had 4 tackles, a sack for a 2-yard loss, a forced fumble, and 2 interceptions. Yes, Everett Golson was clutch when it mattered. Yes, Brian Kelly deserves credit for how he coached the game. Yes, the Notre Dame receivers and running backs did a pretty darn good job moving the ball on the Stanford defense. But it can’t be ignored who the key player was behind Notre Dame’s win: it was Cole Luke.

As Stanford was driving in the first quarter, Luke had the sack when they were in Notre Dame territory. He then picked up his first of 2 interceptions the next play to end that drive. Then came the 4th quarter, and Luke intercepted another pass. Two clutch interceptions earns him lots of credit for leading the Irish to victory.

Those plays put him among our Week 6 Blitz Points winners. Kudos to Luke.
