Saturday Blitz Week 6 Blitz Points Winners

8. Godwin Igwebuike, Defensive Back, Northwestern Wildcats (Defeated Wisconsin Badgers 20-14 Saturday_

3 Interceptions

Who can ignore Godwin Igwebuike after Saturday? The freshman safety had not racked up any stats all year, and with his Wildcats in desperation mode this season after a rough start, he came through in the biggest game they’ve had so far. And he came through in a huge way.

Igwebuike’s 3 interceptions were incredibly impressive, even if they did come against a team in Wisconsin that has no passing game. His first interception cost Wisconsin points when the Basdgers had driven to inside the Red Zone, his second interception set up a touchdown to give Northwestern a 17-7 lead, and his third interception came in the fourth quarter when Wisconsin was on the Northwestern 3-yard line.

Simply put, each one of the Igwebuike’s interceptions made a crucial difference in the game, and as a freshman he came through overwhelmingly more than anybody would have expected him to. Make no mistake, he is the one who pulled off the upset for the Wildcats, and for that he deserves a ton of respect.

That’s why we made him one of our Blitz Points winners.
