Blitz Points: Week 6 College Football Top Performers
Saturday Blitz Week 6 Blitz Points Winners
7. Nick Marshall, Quarterback, Auburn Tigers (Defeated LSU Tigers 41-7 Saturday)
14 of 22 for 207 Yards and 2 Touchdowns, 16 Carries for 119 Yards and 2 Touchdowns
Wait, wasn’t Auburn supposed to be a fluke last year? I mean, Nick Marshall couldn’t throw the ball, and the team was incredibly lucky to be where they were last year after fluke plays to beat Georgia and Alabama. Marshall couldn’t be taken seriously as an SEC quarterback right? Wrong!!!
Against LSU, Marshall played Heisman candidate Dak Prescott, and he’s back in the Heisman race himself. With this game expected to be a toss-up, Marshall is the one who turned this into a blowout. He was not going to let LSU come close to pulling off the upset, and his Tigers have joined the Mississippi schools as the undefeated powerhouses of the SEC West. Time to stop considering this team a fluke after this one.
And it’s time to take Marshall seriously. Through all its faults, LSU had a good defense, so to have more than 200 yards passing and more than 100 yards rushing is amazing for Marshall. He channeled his inner-Cam Newton, and that led the Tigers to a huge victory over the other Tigers in the SEC West. Don’t look now, but Auburn is one of the top SEC teams again.
And Nick Marshall is a huge reason for that, which is why we awarded him Blitz Points.
