Saturday Blitz Week 6 Pac 12 Power Rankings

UCLA gained all its credibility back after dominating Arizona State 62-27 on a Thursday night two weeks ago. It looked even better after Arizona State beat USC on Saturday. But maybe two hours later, the Bruins gave it all back with a terrible performance against Utah.

UCLA should be absolutely ashamed of its rush defense, allowing Utah run the ball the entire way for the game-winning field goal at the end. That came after UCLA had come back and taken the lead, gaining all of the momentum late in the fourth. Brett Hundley wasn’t amazing, but he was good enough for the team to win. They should have been able to hold onto that lead, but questions we had about the defense all season long came to fruition.

The Bruins may no longer be the favorites to win the Pac 12 South now. Utah owned them in that game, and when they came back, the Utes were able to respond. That’s not a good look for this team. Going forward, they get another huge test this week in Oregon. This game is now anti-climactic since we expected both teams to be undefeated going in, and now they both have a loss.

But UCLA is still one of the better Pac 12 teams, and they have plenty more chances to show it.
