Saturday Blitz Week 6 Big 12 Power Rankings

Why is this crazy? Somebody provide a decent reason for us to not put TCU at the top of our Big 12 Power Rankings after beating Oklahoma last Saturday. Because they haven’t looked as dominant as Baylor? Please. This team now has a signature win against the Sooners to prove it is a legitimate powerhouse right now, and even its second best win, against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, is far better than any win Baylor has had this year.

Gary Patterson’s defense has now begun to look like a Gary Patterson defense should. Giving up only 13.5 points a game, the unit held in check Samaje Perine for Oklahoma last Saturday, and it finally showed how pathetic of a quarterback Trevor Knight actually is. But let’s not stop at the defense. Trevone Boykin has played incredible at quarterback, with 10 passing touchdowns and 1,176 passing yards to go along with 3 rushing touchdowns and 260 rushing yards. That’s an average of 294 passing yards and 65 rushing yards a game. This is a great team all-around.

The Horned Frogs will have plenty more chances to prove themselves this year even further in Big 12 play. It starts this week with a game against Baylor. If they win that game, then the members of the two-horse race expected to dominate the Big 12 will both have fallen at the hands of the Horned Frogs. Then, down the road, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia come up. So this team is far from solidified in its spot atop the Big 12 Power Rankings.

But it still has looked far more impressive than any other Big 12 team so far. That’s why we are putting these guys up here.
