Saturday Blitz Vegas SEC Predictions Week 7

LSU Tigers at Florida Gators

Line: LSU by 1.5

Here’s a game between two rivals that usually are competing for SEC and national titles. But this time they’re both unranked, and we’re trying to figure out just how good each team is. It’s been a whirlwind week for Florida, who thought it had found a quarterback in Treon Harris after he came in and led a thrilling comeback 10-9 victory against Tennessee. But then he got in trouble for a sexual assault issue, and then the third-string quarterback got sent to the hospital over a fight with another teammate centered around stolen cleats. That leaves Will Muschamp having to go back to the dreaded Jeff Driskel. And that’s the key to this game. Florida is good everywhere except at quarterback. The Gators are going to need Driskel to have a good game against a suspect LSU defense to pull out this victory.

LSU, meanwhile, could use a decent quarterback. It’s got a great rushing attack with Leonard Fournette and Kenny Hilliard, a great receiver in Travin Dural, and playmakers on defense. But Brandon Harris and Anthony Jennings are both allergic to not being terrible. Harris is back in the lineup after going 3 of 14 against Auburn. Just like Florida, LSU needs him to play decent to win this game. Fournette has yet to live up to his offseason hype, but he has still been decent, and the defense isn’t terrible despite struggling against Mississippi State and Auburn. The game is going to come down to Harris’s play. Simply put, you should expect terrible quarterback play in this game, and the team with the less bad quarterback will win.

Prediction

This is an incredibly hard game to pick, but we are going to go with Florida in The Swamp at night. Driskel has played well before, and eventually he is going to get his rhythm going again. Why not this weekend after being benched against Tennessee? He won’t be as bad as Harris, and it’ll be enough for a Florida victory.
