Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 7

David Cutcliffe’s Duke Blue Devils are back in business. We had good questions about this team after its loss to Miami, but a quality win against Georgia Tech is enough to put it up as one of the Top 3 teams in the ACC for right now. Accept it ACC fans. The Blue Devils aren’t going anywhere in college football as long as Cutcliffe is there, and they’ll only get better.

This team had an incredible rushing attack with a freshman in Shaun Wilson, but finally the senior stepped up on Saturday. Josh Snead’s 100 yards was a big reason for the Duke win, and if he can become a star in the backfield along with Wilson, while senior quarterback Anthony Boone continues to play very efficient at quarterback, then there’s no limit to how good this team can be. Okay, there is a limit, but it is an extremely well-coached team. And the defense has been great, only allowing 15.5 points a game. If they keep that up, 11-1 could be possible, however long of a shot.

Virginia, Pitt, and Syracuse are all up next, and they should all be wins. With Duke closing the season out against Wake Forest and UNC, that should make for 10 wins. A Nov. 15 home game with Virginia Tech could determine the season as far as how great Duke looks. They have a great chance to win that game as well, so Blue Devils fans should be excited.

This team is only building off of last year’s success, and that’s why they have moved up these rankings.
