Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 7

Mike London looks like he’ll still have a job after this year. His Virginia Cavaliers could easily be 6-0, but 4-2 to this points is still more impressive than anybody would have thought. Pittsburgh isn’t a bad win, and Louisville is a great win. That game alone is enough to assume that this is a legit team, but it does not look like an elite team in the conference. Still, it looks like a solid bowl team.

Matt Johns is not great at quarterback, but he can manage the game enough for his team, and Kevin Parks is great at running back, doing enough to keep his offense on the field throughout games. The defense has come through as well, only allowing 22.5 points per game, and that has been enough for this team to get to 4-2. The Cavaliers still have major issues taking care of the football, an issue that cost them against UCLA to start the year, but they have been able to create breaks as well. That’s what they did when they pulled off the upset over Louisville. But this team has to limit its turnovers going forward.

Duke, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Miami, and Virginia Tech are all still on the schedule. North Carolina at home has to be a win with those games coming up if Virginia wishes to make a bowl game, and then one of those games has to be wins. Because those are all great teams, Virginia absolutely has to take care of the football. Otherwise, they have no chance in those games.

But if they pull one or two of them off, expect them to jump up these power rankings.
