Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 8

Obviously this is no surprise. The Demon Deacons fell to 0-3 in the ACC after losing to Syracuse on Saturday and is now 2-5 on the year, with their only halfway noteworthy win coming against Army. Obviously, this was to be expected, but we still can’t overstate how awful Dave Clawson’s first team is right now.

We also can’t overstate, however, how patient Wake Forest fans have to be. Clawson’s offense was expected to be terrible this year. He is installing a brand new scheme, and it’s taken time to develop everywhere he has been. The same is going to hold true in Winston Salem. If you notice, the defense isn’t bad, only giving up 25 points per game. It’s the offense that’s pathetic, averaging only 14.4 points per game, and that will change in a year or two.

Obviously, last weekend against Syracuse was the best chance for this team to pull out a conference win. With a huge loss there, it doesn’t bode well for this team going forward, but Boston College and N.C. State are maybe two chances for wins. Clemson, Duke, and Virginia Tech are almost sure losses.

And this team will almost certainly remain at the bottom of the conference all year.
