Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 8

Well, the N.C. State Wolfpack have certainly woken up to reality, haven’t they? We thought this team was legitimate. We thought Dave Doeren’s second group was going to show it was improving. For four games and three quarters, that appeared to be the case. But through the last three games and a quarter, the opposite has happened. To be fair, they looked a little better against Louisville. But this is still obviously not a great team.

The Wolfpack finally appeared to get a little bit back on the right track against Louisville in the passing game with Jacoby Brissett, who looked decent against a good defense after two straight terrible games, but they still have a problem. Defense continues to be an issue that needs to be corrected, and the offense has got to get more consistent. If not, this team won’t beat anybody left.

And after that 4-0 start, making it to a bowl game may not be easy as you might think. Syracuse and Wake Forest are both should-be wins that should get this team to at least 6-6, but the Orange are a road game. And all of a sudden North Carolina looks like a hard team to beat, while Georgia Tech will be tough no matter what. Reaching 6 wins is very likely but can’t be guaranteed.

And with the way the Wolfpack have been playing, we have to bump them down to here on our Week 8 power rankings.
