Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 8

The Virginia Tech Hokies could be 7-0 right now and at the top of these power rankings. They might be three plays away from that. But the fact is, they are 4-3, and we can’t put a 4-3 team that high in our ACC Power Rankings, particularly a team that has lost to the likes of Pittsburgh, who lost to Akron. Virginia Tech is clearly just playing bad football right now.

After harping all season about Michael Brewer’s turnover issues at quarterback, he at least stopped that against Pitt. But then he couldn’t make that many great plays to win the game for the Hokies. So it appears right now you have to take the good with the bad with him until he learns to eliminate the bad. Because if he’s not making plays, Virginia Tech obviously can’t win games.

And after giving lots of hope following the Ohio State victory, this team is now not guaranteed a bowl game. Wake Forest is on the schedule, but so is Miami, Boston College, Duke, and Virginia. All four could be losses, but they could all be wins as well. So we could be looking at 9-3 or 5-7 for this team.

And right now we’re not seeing either, as they clearly appear to be just below middle of the pack ACC.
