Saturday Blitz Pac 12 Power Rankings Week 8

Yep, we have decided to demote UCLA despite beating a decent Cal team on the road. It may not seem entirely fair, but after the upset loss to Utah, the bad loss to Oregon, and then struggling against Cal, this team is clearly not what we thought they were. And there are other teams with better or just as good records who played tough against better teams over this past weekend.

The Bruins are simply inconsistent, especially on defense. Brett Hundley and Jordan Payton are still a great duo, and Paul Perkins is emerging as a superstar on the ground. But giving up 34 points to Cal, 42 points to Oregon, and 30 points to Utah is simply embarrassing, and it has got to change.

This team could still do a lot of things with Arizona, USC, and Stanford still on the schedule. The Pac-12 teams are continually beating up on each other, so 9-3 isn’t out of the realm for this team. But neither is 6-6 or 5-7. We have simply got to see more from these Bruins right now to believe that they are going to do anything special. Because they haven’t shown it since blowing out Arizona State.

And that’s why we have to keep dropping them down our power rankings.
