Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 8

This was why we had to bump Georgia and Auburn. Alabama got back on track. A dominant performance against Texas A&M was enough to move the Tide to No. 3 in our SEC Power Rankings, only behind the two undefeated schools from Mississippi. Although they’re behind Auburn in our Top 25 due to body of work, that epic dominating performance on Saturday was enough for them to leapfrog Auburn in this.

The Tide had a complete game starting with the defense and then from Blake Sims to T.J. Yeldon to Amari Cooper on offense with backup help from Jacob Coker and Derrick Henry. Essentially, we finally saw how loaded this team actually is, and it was about time it showed up and played to its full potential. The Tide were too good to look different up to that point.

Unfortunately, the loss to Ole Miss but Alabama in the same boat as the loss to Texas A&M did to Auburn. The Tide have to win out, with Mississippi State, LSU and Auburn still up, and they need Ole Miss to slip twice somewhere. About the only other chance is for a three-way tie for Alabama or Auburn, and that’s very unlikely. So Ole Miss just needs to lose twice.

But at least the Tide are looking like the Tide again.
