Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 8

Finally we were able to bring some reality back to this Kentucky Wildcats team. Mark Stoops has clearly done a good job with this program, and it looks like it could be going bowling this year, which is a tremendous accomplishment. But playing Florida close and beating South Carolina while playing no ranked teams through six games should not have been enough to give the Wildcats all this hype going into Death Valley. And they got exposed.

Patrick Towles is obviously a good quarterback for this team, and the defense is good, but it could not have been expected to hang tough with the Tigers on the road. This team is very young, and Stoops has only had one very good recruiting class so far, so we couldn’t expect to believe that the start was anything but fool’s gold.

And going forward, we’ll know for sure. Mississippi State is up next, but even if the Wildcats lose that game, Missouri, Tennessee, and Louisville are still on the slate. The problem is that they’re all on the road, and the other home game outside of Mississippi State they have is Georgia. So getting to 6 wins will still be hard.

And we still have this team near the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings, even if it is getting better.
